### Release Information ### App: Portable Microsoft Office 2007 (6 in 1) - 260 MiB Includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Picture Manager, Access & Publisher By: DigitalFreedom (DF) Using: VMWare's Thinapp Portable Alternative: The 106 MiB 'Portable Microsoft Office 2007 (Word & Excel Only) v3' (also released by me). Installed Alternatives: NoPE's and the Blue Edition (both are complete fully functional activated Ultimate versions). ### Basic Information ### These apps were made portable using VMware's Thinapp, and consequently, can be run from a USB drive without first installing and with all settings maintained (an 'MSOffice2007-6in1-Settings' folder is created on first use). Since Excel, and all others, are only links to files inside Word (in order to save space) Word must be named 'Microsoft Office Word 2007.exe' if you want to continue using them. To associate file types simply right click on a file (ex. .doc), select 'Open with ...', then navigate to the approprate portable app (ex. Microsoft Office Word 2007.exe'), making sure to tick the always open with box. OS Compatibility: These apps were tested on XP & Vista, but should work on any OS after Win2000. Like the original Office 2007, they will NOT work on Win95, 98 or 2000. REMOVALS: Clipart, Help, Thesaurus & Non-English Languages KEPT: Spellink an Grammar check, Equation Editor (new not old), Macros & Charts -> As well as all the minor stuff, such as WordArt, Organizational Charts, Tables, Shapes and Picture Import. -> Templates in Access, PowerPoint and Publisher were also kept, along with internet integration so you can download even more. -> Compatibility mode was also maintained, allowing you to save, convert and edit the .doc & .xls formats (97-2003). Enjoy. Important Usage Note :: Some of these programs, especially their templates, require MDAC (XP) or WDAC (Vista) in order to function properly. They are installed by default, so unless you messed with the OS (ex. used nLite or vLite) this shouldn't affect you. To test, either create a new database from a template in Access or see if you have an 'ado' folder in 'Program Files -> Common Files -> System'. If you have a version of XP prior to SP2 then download and install MDAC 2.8. ### App Removals and Why ### -> InfoPath and Groove were only included in the Ultimate version of Office because if your not a big business you would have little or no need for them. And since big businesses would laugh at this portable version, or at least get sued by Microsoft for using it, including them would have needlessly increased the file size. -> For personal use Outlook has been deprecated (replaced) by free online mail accounts, such as gmail, since they can be accessed from any connected computer, making them far more conveniant and portable, not to mention there are much smaller and free alternatives to Outlook. Lastly, the major advantages Outlook has over an online mail account are really only useful to large groups of people working together (a.k.a. businesses). -> OneNote was removed because it's like killing a fly with a nuclear bomb. If you have a bad memory get a pad of paper, voice recorder or any number of small freeware apps. It's very telling that this app was only included in the most basic version of Office (Home), for an intelligent person or business would NEVER use it. If you use and love this app then make a NOTE to yourself: I am stuppid. That way you won't forget.
